The below information also appears when the help icons are clicked inside the System Variables screen.

Web Site Name: Your site's name. ex.) "Mary's Country Fudge" (this will show up in the page <title>) You may want to add a few keywords to your title.

Web Site URL: Your site's web address, without the http://. ex.) www.mysite.com This entry should be the same one you entered when you purchased the system.

Administration Email: A general email address used to retrieve your admin password.

Catalog Page: Add the relative URL (just the name of the page and the extension, minus the http:// and/or www part) of your existing catalog page. The default page is ckshop.php Please note - you can only use pages with the extension .php - if your server allows, you can also use the extensions .htm or .html) By naming the page to index.php or index.htm you can set the catalog page as your home page and choose which content you want to appear (see initial page)

Mals-E Cart ID: Your Mals-E account number (not password!) ex.) 6184875

Currency: Your currency symbol. ex.) $

Tax Rate: If you live in a state where some items are taxable enter the value here. On the items screen a check box will appear where you can set whether or not an item is taxable.

Initial Page: Select the content to display when you first go to the catalog page. Use the standard "How to Shop" screen that lists all the active categories, show the Newest items added, or use your own Custom Page.

HTML Area: Yes or No turns the editor on and off inside the Items Admin and Category Admin. This editor replaces the long description text areas.

Change Admin Password: We recommend you do this and replace the default password.

INVENTORY SETUP

Inventory Check: Yes turns on an inventory check, which restricts customers from ordering more than the inventory quantity available. No turns the inventory check off, allowing backorders.

Limited Qty Info: Set the general message to appear when a product has a limited inventory quantity if desired or leave blank for no message. ex.) Limited quantities available.

DEFAULT PAGE SETTINGS

Product Ordering: Select the order in which your products will be listed. Sort by item name (A-Z or Z-A), catalog number, item units, or a different random order each time the page is displayed.

Product Columns: Set default number of products to list across. Selecting 1 means your products will be listed in rows down the page, allowing customers to order from that screen. Selecting 2, 3, 4, 5 or 6 means the products will be displayed in that number of items across each page, the image, name and price will be listed on the page in that number of columns, and clicking the item will give more details and order information.

Page Numbers: Set to Yes if you want to show page numbers at the top of your catalog page. Set to No if you simply want "Previous" and "Next" buttons. This setting is applied as the default to your category pages and your search output pages.

Product Rows: Enter the number of rows of items to display on each catalog page. This must be a number greater than zero. Keep in mind that pages with many rows will take longer to load.

**Each category also has column and rows settings and can be adjusted individually.

Options Per Item: Enter the number of options to display in your admin area. This must be a number greater than zero. Keep in mind that it will take longer to load admin pages with many options.

SPECIAL PAGES AND SEARCH OPTIONS

Navigation Bar Type: The way your categories will be displayed on your catalog page. Please be sure you choose the appropriate navigation type to match your theme. (ie, verticle or horizontal) This setting does not impact the information pages which are generated in the content management system.

  • Main Categories Only: this displays the parent categories and is suitable for either a horizontal or verticle arrangement.
  • Vertical Display to list all main categories in a column.
  • Vertical w/Subcategories" to display main categories and their subcategories in a column.
  • Expanded SubCategories will show the Main Categories, after a main category is clicked the subcategories will appear beneath it.
  • Horizontal Expanded Sub Categories: to list all main categories in a row and the sub categories in another row beneath it.

All Product Link: Set to Yes if you want to show an "All Products" link in your category list.

Sale Product Link: Set to Yes if you want to show a "Sale Products" link in your category list. These are items where a sales price was entered in to their setup. These are not items that are using the category discount feature.

New Product Link: Set to Yes if you want to show a "New Products" link in your category list.

Advanced Search: Set to Yes if you would like for your customers to be able to perform more detailed searches on the search.php page.

Show Out of Stock: Set to Yes if you want items that are sold out to still appear on your catalog page, but just appear as sold out. Set to No if you don't want these items listed.

Email to Friend Link: Set to Yes if you want "Email to a friend" links under each product, so your customers can send that product's information to others.

Custom Page: Enter content using the html editor or paste in your own html. This will appear inside the catalog template as the default page.

THEME AND BUTTONS

THEME
Select a theme for your site. By default the catalog comes with one verticle and one horizontal navigation theme. The colors of the themes are modified by adjusting the css files. Please review the working with themes page for more information.

THEME SECTIONS
These are the areas of the theme you may modify. For instance the header, footer and logo. Each theme may contain different sections depending on the theme. If you switch themes will will need to look at what sections are available to modify.

Order Button: The URL of your order button. Upload an image if you want.

Search Button: The URL of your search button. Upload an image if you want.

View Cart Button: The URL of your cart totals button. Upload an image if you want.

On/OFF Buttons: Many Themes use CSS buttons but some themes may allow you to upload your own custom button graphics. The special pages have two states "OFF" is the button that is displayed when the page is not being viewed. "ON" will appear when the visitor clicks on the page and is viewing it. These are not roll over buttons. It is not necessary to add the "ON" button if you decide to use graphics instead of CSS or text links. The "OFF" button will appear by default if no "ON" button is entered.

Meta Description: Create a general "description" meta tag to include on the catalog page when a specific category is not chosen, for search engine success. Do not include the <meta> tag itself, just list the actual description. ex.) The best collectible store on the internet
